Super Nintendo! (or SNES if you don't have time to say the whole word)
That ol' classic 90s console had many games with iconic soundtracks, so why not bring some of that 90s funk to the modern day?
These sounds and songs have since been translated into "SoundFonts", which are collections of music samples used in a soundtrack!
Q: "What?"
A: Pipe down and I'll explain!
So here's how this is gonna work:
Each team will be restricted to using one or more of the soundfonts on this page: https://www.williamkage.com/snes_soundfonts/
They are all SNES SoundFonts, and they all include FL Studio files (and some have Raw Samples in case you don't have FL Sudio or an equivalent program).
Any and all music/sounds/voices/etc. must use these soundfonts to qualify
The visuals can be whatever you like. You can stick to 16-bit pixel art or hi-res art, it's up to you!
Oh, and you cannot exceed 2 songs for your mod
Q: "What about Prizes? WHEN IS THE DEADLINE?!"
A: I'll answer this one in reverse!
The deadline is March 25, 2022. This should give you guys more than enough time to create and submit your mods!
Here are the Categories and Prizes associated with each:
Best Overall - $200 USD or 50,000 GB Points
Best Visuals - $100 USD or 25,000 GB Points
Best Music - $100 USD or 25,000 GB Points
IMPORTANT 1 - IN ORDER TO RECIEVE A CASH PRIZE, YOU MUST HAVE PAYPAL
IMPORTANT 2 - IN THE EVENT OF A TEAM SUBMISSION, PRIZES WILL BE SPLIT EVENLY ACROSS EACH TEAM MEMBER! (unless we get funding for this contest)
Winners will be chosen based on a panel of judges.
Winners will be announced one week after the deadline: April 1, 2022
All entries will be streamed via Twitch at a TBD date after the Deadline.
Q: "What's a SoundFont? How do I make the music?"
A: SoundFonts are a collection of musical samples, sorta like a TypeFace or written font.
As for how you make the music, that's up to you. FL Studio, GarageBand, Audacity even, doesn't matter.
What DOES matter is that you use one of the soundfonts listed on the aforementioned website!
Q: How do I submit my mod?
A: Simple. Upload your mod to GameBanana (this site!) and include [SFNS JAM] in your mod's title!
IMPORTANT
You must state which SNES Soundfont you used when submitting your mod so we can verify it!
