We all experience anger but do we all understand it? Learning more about your anger can help you recognize and control it. I will tell you about an anger questionnaire I created to help you at the end, as well provide a link to another video on anger reduction techniques.

What is anger? Anger is a feeling, or a cluster of feelings, but how you use it, understand it, and act on it is up to you – even when it feels like you have no choice, you do. In this video I’m going to help you understand it.

Passive-aggressive anger - an indirect expression of anger, like subtle insults, stubbornness, or intentional refusal to complete tasks to frustrate or hurt another person.

Explosive anger also called intermittent explosive disorder – sudden episodes of unwarranted or disproportionate anger, rage, tantrums that lead to heated arguments, physical fights, property damage, or threatening or insulting people. For this to be “the disorder” it must cause socioeconomic dysfunction and occur 3 or more times in a year.

Hardened anger – you’re stuck in the quicksand of anger. You have trouble forgiving others, hold grudges. Your anger percolates inside, you hang onto hatred and bitterness.

Vengeful Anger – Continuous thoughts of revenge and how to get the other person or people back for something.

Chronic anger – This is anger you’ve been holding onto for 2 months or more. You’re angry all the time and angry in general. You think about this instance and you’re angry; perhaps you wake up angry, and your anger sticks with you all day long and into the evening.

Incidental anger – can be a healthy type of anger; you’re angry about a particular event or situation and anger is the motivator to get your to deal with it. How you do that and using the anger as a motivator and not something that distracts and blinds you to solving is important as well.

Empathic anger – another type that can be healthy anger; you are angry on behalf of someone else, how they’re treated, being tricked, etc.

You can have more than one anger type at any given time and you can have one that you feel more than the others, this is normal. I have created an anger questionnaire for you to help you identify your anger types – see link in comments. Know that you know what anger is prominent, here is a link on anger reduction techniques to help you.
