The Ailing Arborheart:

In The Ailing Arborheart quest, you’ll explore the hidden elves of the Sacred Arbor. To start, complete the quest A Trial of Archery to meet Doireann. It’s also recommended to finish Steeled Resolve, Blazing Forge, though it's not mandatory at the beginning. The Arborheart, a giant sacred tree in the elves' village, is dying, and the only solution is something called Gwyfencha, a term Doireann doesn’t understand.

If your Main Pawn or any other Pawn has the Woodland Wordsmith specialization, they'll automatically translate the word and complete the objective. If not, you can find Doireann's brother, Glyndwr in the Sacred Arbor, who has the knowledge to translate it for you

You can also finish this objective by completing the quest, Put a Spring in Thy Step, and then speaking to Gautstafr again afterward.

To make this quest easier, it's recommended to have a Pawn with the Woodland Wordsmith specialization. You can do this in two ways:

1️⃣ Visit the Arborheart Riftstone in the Sacred Arbor, enter The Rift, and search for Pawns with this specialization by selecting 'View Unique Pawns' and then 'View Official Pawns.'

2️⃣ Alternatively, equip your Main Pawn with this specialization by obtaining a Woodland Wordsmith's Tome from Kough's Inn. Raise your affinity with Kough, the innkeeper, by giving her Bunches of Flowers until she rewards you with the tome.

Once you learn that Gwyfencha means Scalecinder, your next step is to talk to a Battahli blacksmith. Head to Brokkr’s Smithy in Bakbattahl, where you’ll need to deal with a grumpy blacksmith. If you’ve completed Steeled Resolve, Blazing Forge, his apprentice Sera may help. She suggests using an elven dish called nutriabh to convince Brokkr to assist, completing the quest and leading to the next one, Out of the Forest, Into the Forge.

Out of the Forest, Into the Forge

In this quest, you'll assist Doireann in saving the Arborheart by obtaining Scalecinder from Brokkr's forge. However, to get Brokkr's cooperation, you'll need to appease him with a dish called Nutriabh, a food he secretly enjoys but won't admit to liking. Sara, Brokkr's apprentice, suggests this approach as your best chance.

1️⃣ Obtain Ingredients for Nutriabh
To prepare nutriabh, you'll need rotten apples and rotten fish. If you already have these items in your inventory, check if they’ve spoiled; otherwise, you can let them rot by storing them and waiting a few days. Apples can be found near the Sacred Arbor, and fish are available in most bodies of water. Be sure to remove any Pawns with the Stasis Augment or Logistician Specialization from your party to avoid delays or unwanted crafting.

2️⃣ Deliver the Ingredients
Once you have the rotten ingredients, bring them to Doireann. She'll prepare the dish, although she clearly finds it unpleasant. Afterward, she’ll give you a Ferrystone to travel quickly to Brokkr's Smithy.

3️⃣ Follow Doireann
You can use the Ferrystone or travel by foot or Oxcart to reach Brokkr's Smithy in Bakbattahl. Once there, deliver the nutriabh to Sara, who will take you to Brokkr.

4️⃣ Follow Sara
Follow Sara to Stragglers' Cave, where you'll meet Brokkr. Although initially angry about the elf's presence, Brokkr reluctantly takes the dish, giving you the opportunity to gather Scalecinder from the cave.

5️⃣ Gather Scalecinder
While Brokkr is distracted, collect as much Scalecinder as possible from the cave. Be thorough—search for green powder and break any objects that might hide more. Once you've gathered enough, report back to Sara, and decide how much Scalecinder to give to Doireann. After thanking everyone, Doireann returns to the Sacred Arbor to heal the tree, completing the quest.

Out of the Forest, Into the Forge Rewards:
