The Alliance Alive is a Traditional Jrpg first released in 2017 on the 3DS, later released on PC STEAM. The game was Developed by Cattle Call, and FuRyu, and Published by ATLUS USA, and FuRyu.

STORY: 20/20
A thousand years ago, Humans were living the life of luxury, being the supreme beings of the planet. Suddenly Daemons revolted and plunged the world into chaos, splitting it up into a number of floating continents, all governed by various high level Daemons.

A thousand years later, the sky used to be a lush blue but now is as purple as far as the eye can see. Humans are a dying breed but are gathering recruits to revolt against the ruling daemon lords of each continent. Monsters are on the rise, hunters are joining guilds to keep them in check.

You play as Galil, a kid who has a female adventuring counterpart known as Azure. As the story progresses you take charge of creating your own alliance guild, and being responsible for finding a way to free the world of all Daemons and return humanity to it's original state.

GRAPHICS: 18/20
Considering this version is a port.. I can't actually believe how the devs have pulled off such an amazing port, especially when you look at ported games from pro teams that work for Square Enix. I'm NOT saying ALL S.E.'s ports are bad but most of them are.

The game's graphics are extremely cute chibi anime-like, and even the cutscenes are fantastic. The monsters and character models are all hand-drawn, and then look like they were rendered over the models, they look amazing, reminding me of the art style of World of Final Fantasy. The game's menu looks nice and is extremely easy to navigate once you learn what things are.

Skills, magics and attack skills all look fantastic, with each weapon having many special skills to learn with each having their own flashy look. Some areas are hand drawn, for example the starting town that your run around looks hand drawn with house models placed over it. I think the starting town could have done with a bit more sprucing up or redrawn for this version (same with a couple of the battle areas) but as it is.. it's okay.

AUDIO: 18/20
The game has a really nice OST, with many tracks that are upbeat, happy and some dark and broody, but they all fit into their moment when used perfectly. As far as sound effects go.. this game has so many it's unreal, it amazes me really how much the crammed into this 3DS game.

I DO have something I don't like about this game, audio wise. I don't like the fact that the game has NO voice acting in it what so ever in cutscenes. I believe it was a decision by the developers that they wanted their players to have a more traditional Jrpg experience and leave it up to the player to think about how they wanted a character to sound, kind of like what they do with Link in the Legend of Zelda series of games.

The decision to leave out voice-overs disappointed me and was hoping this version would have had some form of voice-overs but it don't unfortunately.

GAMEPLAY: 18/20
The game plays very much like any other traditional 3D Jrpg of early consoles, and handheld systems, with many visible aspects of any Rpg game being used. Entering menus to do things, battling in separate areas, talking to NPCs to advance the story, staying at INNS, recruiting new party members, mounts, defeating bosses, etc, are all part of the larger RGP genre as a whole, and don't forget the following of the game's story.

You explore the many locations of the world that are nice visually, many different areas such as deserts, forests, underground locations, even caves and such, each usually containing chests for you to loot as your progress. The game is set out in chapters with 9 major areas for characters to find and join you, you can even build your own guild. This game has so much gameplay it has many hours for you to sink your teeth into.

The game has a high level of grind if you want to 100% everything.

SYSTEMS: 20/20
There's a lot of menu based driven stuff, such as using menus for looking at stats, upgrading equipment, equipping items to use and even armor or weapons, managing your party formations, and so forth. There's a mount system where you can get a few different types of mounts.

There's a guild tower building system that you can link using another system called Telegraph system, the higher the towers levels the better the buffs. The game just has so many systems available for you to look into.

OVER ALL:
Honestly, I love this game but the grind can sometimes be a little much but that aside it's an amazing game. DO I recommend it? HELL YEAH!
