12The anchorite is locked up in a big tower and task to do one task a day and reach enlightenment through solidtude. What a simple plot this game starts on and what a mean plottwist this games has towards the end. Play it yourself and don't watch or read on if you want to experience that yourself as you should do.
The writing is really well done and the story is cool thought out and slowly draws you in and as mentioned, of course nothing is like it seems in the end.
Sound effects could be better, some are missing, like when the room shakes, some are really not good, like trying to open the hatch. The music is not distracting and just fine and when the mood changes the horror music is also good but playing for too long in my opinion, but immediately going back to the normal music is probably also not that easy after being shocked.
The graphics look incredibly good, especially for a jamgame made in 2 weeks. The animations also work and show some more movement.
The puzzles are fun to solve, so all in all a solid game.

Synopsis:
A young boy awakens in a strange set of rooms at the top of a tower. He is told that he is to become the 'Anchorite', and must follow three commandments:
Thou shalt complete the daily tasks.
Thoug shalt not look upon the sullied.
Thou shalt not leave the tower.
He is told that he must do this to reach enlightenment, and that it is not only for his own good, but for the good of the city.
Many years pass, and the Anchorite adapts to his new life, until he sees something unexpected at the window, and his life, which had seemed so safe and serene, begins to unravel...
The Anchorite is a point & click mystery tinged with horror, made in two weeks for the Adventure X Jam 2024.
