"The Art of the Blade" (Extreme Demon) by mbed, Subwoofer, Zoroa & more | Geometry Dash 2.11
1,230mbed hit me up and asked me if I wanted to upload his new megacollab, and I was definitely interested after seeing the lineup and then the video. I love themed levels, especially ones that use more rare themes, and this is one of them. This has a ninja theme from start to finish, which suits the song by Zircon perfectly. I'd love to see more creators try their hand at less used themes in the future.
You start off coming out of the dojo before jumping on top of platforms made of bamboo and seeing a big mountain the background. This is a great introduction to the theme, setting the stage for the rest of the level. Even with something as "niche" as a ninja theme, they've managed to make this very varied both in colors and artwork. To mention some, there's the darker part at 0:25, featuring shurikens, a prominent ninja weapon, and the inside of the dojo at 0:44, featuring nice artwork on the walls. I wish some parts relied on the theme a little more, such as Zoroa's seen at 0:54. Some artwork that tied into the level would have made it fit in even better and make the level more consistent and cohesive. Overall, though, I'd say everyone did a good job of tying into the theme while keeping it fresh in terms of colors, art, and design.
The gameplay for this was made by talia, Subwoofer, and mbed, and while it's way too hard for me to do, I'd say it looks quite unique. At 0:34, you have to click twice very fast for every step, which has white effect lines tied in nicely. There's also the massive paper with different arrows at 0:43, right before a randomized memory part. This is actually part of a major puzzle that goes throughout the entire level, which must be solved while playing to be able to pass this Wave part. There are many technically difficult parts in terms of skill too, making this incredibly difficult with the memory sections added on top.
