The Ascent offers an incredible world, packed with intricate and visually stunning locations, bolstered by great ambient audio and an authentic cyberpunk soundtrack. However, the gameplay feels underdeveloped in comparison to the presentation. The tactical twin-stick combat feels great in coop, while the streamlined RPG and gear mechanics and engaging without being intrusive, but the combat doesn’t evolve over the length of the game and the mission structure is boring throughout.
