The B-3 Battle Droids That ONLY ANAKIN Could Kill (and Resistant to Lightsabers)- CB3 Cortosis Droid
1,858The C-B3 battle droid, or the Cortosis Battle droid was a heavily modified battle droid unit developed by Wat Tambor and the Techno union during the Clone Wars, which was completely resistant to lightsaber strikes because of it’s armor, terrifying the Jedi Order and leaving them in a panic.

The C-B3 battle droids were constructed by the Techno Union, under the cunning guidance of Wat Tambor in Order to put an end to the Republic very early on in the war. Wat Tambor wanted to begin production on new line of B-3 Battle droids, in order to combat some of the weaknesses of the B-2 units currently in use.In order to produce the most effective and destructive B-3 Battle droids ever created, Tambor formed two teams of his absolute best Combat Engineers from the planet Skako, and them up against each other to see who could create the most promising battle droid.
Very unexpectedly, both teams produced an absolutely phenomenal Battle droid unit, surprising Wat Tambor, but leaving him very impressed with his engineers. Despite both of the team’s creations being absolutely groundbreaking for the separatist droid armies, Wat Tambor ultimately chose the second team's Avatar-7 battle droid unit to become the template for the new B-3 Ultra Battle droid line. After selecting the Avatar-7 to become the B-3 Battle droid template, Wat Tambor was still very excited about what the other team had created, and decided to create a separate battle line, called the C-B3 units.
These units had their outer shell plating made out of cortosis, one of the Materials that the Jedi Order feared most, despite its incredible rarity. The material was so dangerous to the Jedi Order because it was resistant to all lightsaber strikes and slashes. These C-B3 units had an intelligence level between that of the B-2 super Battle droid and the B-3 ultra battle droid, but they did lack the very useful gripping hands of the B-2 unit. Instead of having these hands, Wat Tambor and his men replaced them with twin-barrel, high power blaster cannons, which could swivel almost 360 degrees, making them a formidable enemy, anywhere on the battlefield.
Because they were so expensive however, they were not deployed to many battle of the Clone Wars, but where they were deployed, the CB-3 units wreaked havoc on the Clone Forces and shredded Republic defence lines. Luckily for the Republic, Anakin Skywalker was able to discover a pretty major weakness in the droid’s armor. He found that a very precise overhead slash with a lightsaber could target a small gap between the cortosis armor plating, slicing the CB-3 unit in half. Unfortunately though, not many Jedi were strong enough in their lightsaber combat or accurate enough with the force to pull off this action, meaning that these droids posed a major threat to the Republic.
Chancellor Palpatine, secretly Darth Sidious, actually became so scared that these droids would end the Clone Wars too quickly, bringing separatist victory, that he secretly leaked their design schematics, and production location to the Jedi council.
With this information, the Jedi Order sent Anakin Skywalker, the only Jedi who could effectively defeat these droids, to infiltrate their factory on the industrial planet of Metalorn, where he successfully destroyed and ended production of these terrifying battle droids.
