The Banner Saga Walkthrough and Review(Description)Part 2-KJS
0I know this is an older game. and probably no one will ever read this because most people who wanted to play this series probably already own the game. but on the off chance someone does want to play this series of games and finds this, maybe it can help a little.
I had been looking at getting into this game for a number of years but never picked it up for some reason. saw the trilogy was on sale during the thanksgiving sale on steam or whatever and for all 3 games it was 20 dollars i think so i took up on the offer. Didnt get around to playing it until january though. but im glad i did.
Its an amazing piece of work. Im a fan of turn based combat type games as well as roguelike games. But this game not only has those aspects it has an amazing interactive story in which choices you make not only in dialogue but in random events can completely change how your story turns out.
And i do like games with a good story and when i get to change how a games story line turns out with my own decisions, just makes it a whole lot better. Im assuming the other two games after this one follow the same guidelines but since i havent gotten around to playing the other two games yet i cant say for sure. can only speak for what ive played so far in the first game.
But id definitely recomend if anyone is still considering buying this game to do what i did and wait until the trilogy bundle goes on sale again and get all 3 games. Its well worth it. The only thing suprisingly that i didnt have a whole lot of fun with was the combat in the game. Which is weird because i really like the kind of combat systems that this game has. just felt a bit janky to me personally compared to other games with combat systems of similar type that ive played previously. And i guess i had a bit of a hard time fully understanding this games combat mechanics in particular.
But, i was more inclined to play the game for the story elements any way, so even though i personally didnt enjoy the combat all to much i was very happy with the story. kept me hooked the whole time and i cant wait to install the next games and play them too. easily a solid 9 out of 10 game for me. If this kind of style of game appeals to you, its definitely well worth picking it up at some point. you wont regret it.
