Gabriel Knight 2: The Beast Within (Also known as The Beast Within) is a point and click FMV adventure/thriller game and a sequel to Gabriel Knight 1: Sins Of The Fathers.. It was released on 6 CD ROM discs in 1995 for Windows and MS DOS and created by game designer/writer Jane Jensen and Sierra On Line..

The game tells the story of Gabriel Knight (Dean Erickson) an American novelist and Book Store owner from New Orleans, who has recently inherited his family business of Schattenjäger (German for Shadow Hunter - Basically a man who fights the supernatural) as well as his Uncle Wolfgang's mansion, Schloss Ritter, in Rittersberg, Germany.. Together with his friend and business assistant Grace Nakimura (Joanne Takahashi) they get heavily involved in a case involving a rash of bizarre mutilation killing cases in Munich that may or may not involve werewolves..

As they delve further into the case and its bizarre past they begin to realize that they are heading head first into extreme danger.

FUN FACT: This particular chapter has one of the most impressive scenes ever made in a video game/FMV game.. I am of course talking about the "Curse Of Engelhart" opera which was entirely written by game creator/designer Jane Jensen and filmed exclusively for this game on stage in a real opera house with actual broadway opera performers..
