Starfield is a relatively realistic sci-fi role-playing video game set in a sci-fi universe. Executive Producer Todd Howard says the team visited SpaceX to bring "authenticity" to the game. He mentions, for example, nuclear propulsion using helium-3.
In this universe, space flight is still in its infancy and remains dangerous.
The playable character is created by the player, who can also choose a background and character traits.
Players can alternate between first-person and third-person views. Over 1,000 planets can be explored1. It is developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It was announced at E3 2018 and released on September 6, 2023 on Microsoft Windows and Xbox Series.
