The Magic of Celeste
Celeste made an impression on me. It's the ultimate platformer in terms of satisfying handheld sensations. I've never felt that way in a game offering such a challenge. I dug a little deeper into why I enjoyed Celeste so much, and how the game was conceived by its developers. Some of the secrets behind Celeste's magic are in this video.

🎮 GAME INFO 🎮
Celeste is an independent two-dimensional platform video game developed and published by Extremely OK Gamesa, a Canadian studio headed by Maddy Thorson and Noel Berry. Stemming from an eponymous prototype developed in August 2015 during a game jam on the PICO-8 fantasy console, it was finally released on Microsoft Windows, macOS, Linux, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One on January 25, 2018, then on Google Stadia on July 28 of the same year.
In Celeste, the player takes on the role of Madeline, a young woman attempting to climb Mount Celeste. During her ascent, it is revealed that she suffers from a severe form of anxiety and depression, implying that she must confront her anxieties and inner malaise to reach the top of the mountain. The game consists of eight chapters plus a free DLC entitled Farewell, released on September 9, 2019, which brings the story to a definitive close. The game's gameplay consists of a sequence of screens presenting a complex and coherent assembly of obstacles that require strategy, precision and a good deal of reaction time on the part of the player to overcome.Considered demanding and often compared to games like Super Meat Boy, Celeste nevertheless includes settings to adjust difficulty and remains seen as less punishing than other games in the genre.
