The 90s Clone Saga marked an era of change for the characters of Peter Parker, Mary Jane Watson, and their supporting cast of characters - and in my opinion, a lot of it was fantastic.

It was nice to see Peter healing from his recent trauma with his parents as well as the ordeal that was Harry Osborn as the new Green Goblin, and I really liked him passing down the mantle of Spider-Man to Ben Reilly as the new responsibility of fatherhood came upon him.

Not to mention that Ben Reilly was a stunning new character who took the Marvel landscape by storm and gave us some of the best writing we've ever seen from the webhead thanks to Lost Years and Redemption, which was of course written by the same prolific mind behind Kraven's Last Hunt. It really was a point of no return for the wallcrawler that could have ushered in a new and exciting age for Spidey comics, but Marvel Editorial chickened out at the last minute and chose to end Ben Reilly's short tenure as the webslinger as well as little baby Mayday in one of the most jarring endings to a saga (that had already supposedly ended a full year prior) that I've ever seen.

Readers who lived through the Clone Saga as it was released have looked back on the entire storyline as a big waste of time, and honestly I can't blame them when the ending got rid of everything it tried to set up in one fell swoop, and not even a decade later they even brought Aunt May back and retconned Amazing Spider-Man issue 600 - which was thought to be one of the highlights of the Clone Saga for a lot of fans. It's all so disheartening to see, and it marked the beginning of the end for Peter Parker's progression as a character, and led all the way up to One More Day setting him firmly in a loop of constant misery and regression in some vain attempt to keep him relatable.

That being said, I hope you enjoy this little comic dub of mine, and I would love it if you checked out my other voice overs featuring Ben Reilly and this often maligned Spider-Man storyline. I truly do believe it deserves better, and I'm here to make sure that that the Clone Saga and all the good it did aren't soon forgotten!
