66Been doing a lot of work on tech. Now, the basic transportation system is done. Now you can actually go from your ship to planets and vice-versa.
There's still a lot of ways it can be improved, such as having a little more polished graphics, some better sounds for reboarding, improved ship AI voice, and being able to actually SELECT A PLANET beforehand. But this is such a huge step forward it's awesome and I'm happy.
I've also learned about SNDSEQ and how it can be applied to sectors--this is especially interesting given how I'm a little bit of a whore for sound design, so I'm especially interested in having more opportunity to make/use more sounds. So now there's four different types of doors on the ships, all of which have their own unique sounds--sliding doors, blast doors (not shown), normal doors, and turbo doors (not shown).
There's also a jukebox that was suggested by a friend. This is an interesting little toy to play with, since you can customize the song that plays on the ship map to be anything you want--and it'll actually stay that song, even if you exit the map and return.
While the display/selection script is quite simple at the moment (thanks, Jimmy!), I'd like it in the future to be a little sound-test area, where you unlock more music as you go through the game and then can play each of the songs at your leisure.
