More on the mode itself...it's basically an extended war of attrition wherein you must collectively kill without dying and only die if it means taking an enemy down with you. I suppose the best defense is to rove around like some kind of gang, but cooperation without coordination is pretty tough to pull off, I suppose.

Oh, and for the curious, the Shared Stock mode doesn't eventually reduce your team to a single remaining survivor...the game is called when a final death occurs and the respawn is no longer possible.
