The Controversy Behind Omae Wa Mou: Touhou, Vaporwave, and Originality
35Though the controversy has died down, I think this debate would bring forth an argument as to what originality means. How much does one have to change in order for it to be different? Omae Wa Mou feels very different from a phenomenological standpoint, even though in terms of music theory, it remains the same to Tiny Little Adiantum. But we can say the same about the well-known and beloved meme that is V A P O R W A V E.
Personally, I do think Omae Wa Mou being copyrighted is a bit weird, but legality-wise if they claim themselves as completely separate under fair use, is it still able to be copyrighted?
