...important.

Restraint in the corners has helped me improve my average placing in Grand Races. I mean, nothing is guaranteed, but I've gone from being happy to end in 16th, but I'm seeing more regular placement of 10 and lower....higher? Not a humble brag, just a statement.

Other things I've found help:

No matter how much you've upgraded your car, it will be detuned so that everyone had a similarly powerful car. Your upgrades only show up in "story"/ cruise mode.

Take your foot /finger off the accelerator going into sharper corners - for starters, and accelerate coming out of the corner.

Corner bombing will slow you down along with the people you slam.

Cutting corners can sometimes work if you know what you're doing, but will often lead to you slamming into a wall, over-shooting and missing the checkpoint (if there is one), and / or spinning out - and losing time.

Those cool jumps - some will help you, some will throw all your progress out the window. Personally, except for two that I'm familiar with, I find that I don't gain any time using them- which I can follow up with:

Stay on the road when possible - especially with the hyper cars and Alpha GP (*especially* the Alpha GP vehicles) - but if you do go offroad, attempt to take as few turns as possible. Going off path is fun, but there are fences, rocks, hidden crap that will send you flying into the air, trees and bushes and more - they will slow you down, negating any benefits you might have thought you'd get cutting.

Use your nitrous sparingly - like coming out of corners or heading up a short steep hill, or passing the one dude who is tying to pit you

Just because you have an older/cooler car, just remember, not all cars were meant for Grand Races. I love my big old Cadillac, that original Hummer, most of my older muscle cars - but they will always leave me in last place, even if the game claims that all cars are tuned for PvP Fairness.

When you're passing someone, just pass them, don't bash them while you do. If they try to stop you from passing, well, you would too, right? So that's fine - but just pass someone, no hitting required.

Typically I try to only hit-back - i don't typically go out of my way to bash other drivers, but if they've been bashing me through the whole race, i won't lie, if I'm given the opportunity, I'll take it.

Finally, don't be an @ssh@le. Don't continually bash other cars, try to pit them, knock them off the road, just enjoy the race. I'm not saying try to make every race a 100% clean race, I'm saying don't make the point of your race to take the fun out of it for everyone else.

i was going to make a whole video about this subject (tips and tricks) but figured it was just as effective to write it all down.

any way - if you've actually read this, thank you - much appreciated. I hope you enjoyed the video - I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks for watching! See you in the next video :)
