The Crucified Predator Yautja Explained from Predators 2010

The Crucified Predator, also known as the Classic Predator was a Yautja who’d been taken captive and strung up on a totem by the Super Predators on the game preserve planet.

Being a Jungle Hunter clan Predator, he was an honourable Hunter, and shared a similar appearance to the Predator of the first movie – yellowish-beige skin, black dreadlocks, and grey armour with a classic-style helmet, except with battle damage along one side, inflicted during his capture.
His weaponry and equipment consisted of a set of twin wristblades and a plasma caster.
He also had a wrist computer and active camouflage.

It is not explained exactly how Classic came into contact with the Super Predators, but the second disc from the DVD and BluRay release features a motion comic about how the Crucified Predator was captured by the Super Predators.
I have another video analysing the motion comic which I will have as a card in the top right of the screen if you’re interested.

It is also not known exactly how long the Classic Predator had been suspended on the totem for, but what is known, is that it would be a very torturous experience.
And he would have been malnourished and dehydrated as well, enduring a slow and painful death.
It is thought that this act by the Bad Bloods may be some sort of ritualistic behaviour and punishment for their enemy, to send a message to others of his kind, as the Classic Predators are locked in a perpetual conflict with the Super Predators.


The crucified predator was found by the group of Humans strung up in the Super Predator camp, one of them prodded him, waking him up.
The Predator then started roaring at them, probably trying to warn them of the danger that was coming.
But the Super Predators appeared and attacked the group, forcing them to flee.
Later that night, the surviving members returned, one of them attempted to communicate his situation to the Predator, and cut him down in hope that he could help them.
Crucified Predator understood what the Human wanted, and used his wrist computer to start up the nearby spaceship to take them back to Earth.
But, Berserker, the leader of the Super Predators returned, and despite his weakened state, the Classic Yautja squared off against his Super Predator nemesis
The two battled, and at first the fight was going in Berserkers favour, but Classic landed a few good blows and caught him off-guard a couple of times.

But after a devastating headbutt, the Crucified Predator fell to his knees, and Berserker cut off his head, ending the life of the Crucified Predator.

I thought it was really cool when we got to see the Classic Predator fight the Super Predator; I always root for Classic to win and it was a shame he got killed.
Something interesting about Predators is that it marked the first time we ever saw a fight between two Predators onscreen in a movie.
I think having the Predators split into different warring factions was a really good way to expand on the mythos, giving us something new but still grounded and believable.
And we saw more of this type of thing in the next movie ‘The Predator’ with the Fugitive and Upgrade Predators, though not done as well in my opinion.
Something I’ve seen a lot of people discuss, is that, since even though he was injured and had been crucified for some time, Classic still put up a good fight against a Super Predator, leading to lots of people to speculate that, were he not in a weakened and fatigued state, that he might have actually won, which I think is a good theory, afterall the Super Predators only seem to be a little bit bigger than the normal Predators, so if a normal predator is skilled enough, they could probably still win against a less skilled Super Predator.

The design of the Classic Predator was intentionally meant to resemble the Predator from the first movie, as a reference to the original film, which was cool and everything and I do like that, but at the same time, with the creature design in this film being as good as it was, part of me would have liked to see it have a new design and see what they could have come up with if they’d decided to give the Crucified Predator more of a unique look, as I really like what they did with the designs of the other Predators in the film.
