What is the Predator Killer?
136The Predator Killer was a piece of technology that became a suit of armour resembling a Yautja in its design once a human donned it. The suit was stolen by the Fugitive Predator and brought to Earth, where the Assassin Predator attempted to recapture it in order to prevent it from falling into the hands of humans.
The suit is a full set of body armour designed for humans and made in the likeness of the Yautja species, to the point of it including Dreadlocks. On each shoulder are three Plasmacasters, each with independent targeting lasers, and a giant cannon. It also comes with Wristblades that are longer than standard.
While its capabilities were never shown, it presumably has similar abilities to standard Yautja Body Armour such as cloaking and thermal vision in the built-in bio-helmet.
The entirety of Predator Killer is stored within a specialised Wrist Gauntlet that has a retractable bolt on each side which are extended when the armour is not in use.
Upon activation, the bolts retract to lock the gauntlet onto the wearer's hand as it materialises the rest of the suit complete with its built-in weaponry in a matter of seconds.
The suit makes its only physical appearance in The Predator from 2018, but is also mentioned in the videogame Predator Hunting Grounds
According to the audio recordings in the game, the armour was likely an early prototype, as it was shown to have several flaws despite its advanced nature. Examples of this were that tests performed on the armour found it to be brittle, as well as vulnerable to small arms fire. The power source used in it was only good for a full 24 seconds before shutting down and attempts to fire the large plasmacasters caused the suit to overload.
Out of all the things from The Predator, the Predator Killer was my least liked, as it just felt way too over the top to fit in a Predator film. Can you imagine watching the original film and thinking that in this same universe there’s a Predator Ironman suit that the Predators give to us. It’s just so silly to me.
Luckily though, as for the most part Predator films are self-contained and only really reference the first movie, and sometimes the second but that’s a lot less often, so it’s pretty easy to retcon The Predator and its events out of the Predator movie continuity.
