The Predator Dogs, also called Predator Hounds, not to be confused with the Predator Hellhounds of Predators from 2010, were a non-sapient animal species used by the Assassin Predator Yautja to track, chase down, and kill his targets.
These creatures were chimeric canines thought to have been created through hybridisation techniques similar to ones used to augment their master rather than a naturally occurring species.
Yautja DNA is among the genomes involved in their creation through their jarring resemblance to the race donor in question, most notable being their green blood, and the dreadlocks on their heads, though they lacked mandibles, suggesting another species other than Predators were used in their genetic makeup.
Like The Assassin Predator himself, they possess exoskeletal armour that can deflect bullets, though not quite as tough as the former's.
Superficially, Predator Hounds look similar to the Hellhounds used by the Super Predators, except even more canine-like, and were even deployed for the same function. Even so, Predator Dogs seem to be better suited for tracking and retrieval, as two of them were deployed by Assassin Predator to locate and secure the Fugitive Predator's equipment.
A pair of Predator Dogs were brought to Earth during the Assassin Predator's pursuit of the Fugitive Predator. They were involved in a fight with the Loonies in a Baseball field, where one was killed by Quinn firing a grenade down its throat and it exploding from the inside out, whereas the other was pacified due to head trauma, making it act more like a regular Earth dog. The surviving hound assisted the Loonies by turning against its own master.
I think that the Predator Dogs were a strange inclusion for the movie, as we’d already seen the idea done in a much better way in the previous film which took itself more seriously, whereas in The Predator, the idea was done what seemed more like a joke, as if it was supposed to be a parody or something.
I also thought that they felt tacked on and like they didn’t really fit with the story. I think the reason I get that idea from the film is that the Dogs were originally just one of many different hybrid Predator creatures, but the later sequence with the others such as the Predator Monkey, and Predator Spider I think was another one, was changed to the ending we got in the final cut, so for me, the Dogs kinda felt out of place.
