From the LP, "Time Out" (1959), the most perfect progressive jazz album ever recorded, in my opinion anyway, this is the most popular of the tracks, "Take Five." Recorded on
July 1, 1959, it was released as a single on September 21, 1959, three months ahead of its album version release on December 14. Despite the great success of the album Time Out, the single "Take Five" did not perform well on the charts after its 1959 release and as a result it was re-released as a single on May 22, 1961. The single ran at a little under three minutes, while the album track ran at 5:28. This is the album track. "Take Five" reached #25 on the Billboard Hot 100 on October 9, 1961 and made it to #24 on Cash Box on October 21, 1961.

The footage used in the video is from 1960 and is as clear and fresh as the eternal summer day it was shot 58 years ago. It is hard to imagine when watching that everything and everyone you see happened almost sixty years ago. Time is an illusion my friends; there is only that which changes and that which does not change. What we call Time is merely a measurement of that which changes; Time itself does not exist. But take five, anyway.
