Jim Jarmusch's "The Dead Don't Die" is an excellent case study in what not to do when trying to maintain the audience's investment and an interesting example of how the concept of "subversive storytelling" is somewhat paradoxical in nature. The film is both endearing and downright boring but when you dig beneath the surface there is a wealth of quirks that give dimension to an otherwise wasteful work of art.
