The Desk of Ladyada - Metro M7 & More Feather Bones
This week we worked on the Metro M7 (https://www.adafruit.com/product/4950) tester, it's working well and performs both ESP32 and iMX programming over USB. We're excited to get this board into the shop this week! Next, we've been doing some more RP2040 Feather Bones work, in addition to the DVI Feather we've also designed an RFM69 module (https://www.adafruit.com/?q=rfm69&sort=BestMatch) board and a an EInk display (https://www.adafruit.com/?q=EInk&sort=BestMatch) driver Feather. It's kinda fun to keep coming up with design ideas that will fit into the Bones design. Once we get the boards verified we'll publish the files like we do for all our boards!
The Great Search - HDMI Connector for DVI Compatible Displays

One of our new Feather designs will sport a full-size HDMI connector that can be used to connect to DVI displays. While the RP2040 itself does not have a native DVI driver, you can sorta-bitbang your way to success using the PicoDVI library (https://github.com/adafruit/PicoDVI). Like USB, there are standardized connectors, so it's easy to find a good range of suppliers that will give us full-sized HDMI connectors. Like USB Type C, you can also use the connector in a pick and place line and with some good paste deposition, skip the wave or selective solder step for the through-hole mounting tabs.
