The Elder Scrolls 3 Morrowind | Broken

I have been on adventures in my life. For all my life I have always done what was told to me. My father had beaten the phrase: "Do what must be done". For the most part, those words had served me well, I had survived many ordeals thanks to this saying. This would be the day I came to question those very words. I had made friends with Sottilde, a pawnbroker in Balmora who was in leagues with the Thieves Guild.
I would steal items, ingredients, and armor and sell them to her. We made small talk but over time I've come to enjoy her company. I felt that she would enjoy mine as well. Eydis had given me the order to find a "Code Book" that was in the Thieves Guild and bring it back to her. It would appear that there is conflict between the two guilds but my order is absolute. To steal from a thief, one more experienced than I is a difficult order. I would come to find out that it was in the possession of Sottilde. I had tried to convince her to relinquish the book. No matter what words I used, no matter how much gold I gave her, she would not let that book go.
There was no way of stealing that book. Even with my exclusive invisibility potion, my hands were clumsy and she would detect me right away. I taunted her. She was confused. I kept going. She became angry. I would not stop. She drew her blade and I mine. Before the others could see the end result I had quickly taken the book into my possession and hid it. They ruled out no foul play and that they could hear our argument. I acted in self-defense. I turned in the book and from there I could no longer hear Eydis' words. I dragged myself away. I looked upon the heavens as those cursed words rang in my head.
Do what must be done.
