After *many* difficulties, I was able to pick up the flask. And I'm also a good ways into the Dwarven ruins to... do something. I can't remember if there was a task I was supposed to accomplish. Maybe there's a gear here to give to whatshisface. Erasmus? Whatever.

I assume the flask is to be able to kill the necromancer.
