GAME AWARDS:
GameSpy 2002 PC RPG of the Year Award, RPGDot 2002 Award, IGN PC Roleplaying Game of the Year, IGN RPG Vault Game of the Year, IGN Reader's Choice Best Story, and Best XBox RPG. Musical score by Jeremy Soule was nominated for music composition, 2003 Interactive Achievement Awards.
MORROWIND MODs:
The Elder Scrolls: Tribunal Expansion was released in November 2002. The Elder Scrolls: Bloodmoon was released in June 2003. The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Game of the Year Edition was released October 31, 2003 compiled both Tribunal and Bloodmoon expansions along with a variety of minor quests, item addons, and patched editions of the Morrowind original release. Reviews for GOTY were mostly positive, Metacritic score 89 and GameRankings.
Bethesda Softworks creation tools were published as free as The Construction Set. That allowed support for the MOD Community to create Morrowind plugins (MODs). The Construction set, along with third-party mod-making tools, allow modders to create and edit objects, places, characters, dialogues, birthsigns, abilities, and skills, as well as add support for newer graphics technology. The MOD Community additions extended game features, issued unofficial bug fix patches, lengthened its gaming life. Surprisingly, despite being released in 2002 Morrowind still draws an active community of aficionados -- old and new.
ELDER SCROLLS 25TH ANNIVERSARY:
For the 25th Anniversary of The Elder Scrolls series, for a limited time Bethesda offered the full Morrowind GOTY Edition through the Bethesda.net Launcher in a re-release version that supports Windows 10.
