Auldjohn Retro Vid Cap:

Quake II was a classic, single and multiplayer Sci-Fi action FPS, produced and developed by id Software, released November 11 or December 9, 1997. Now ESRB Rated M, 17+ recommended.

This acclaimed Quake II is a sequel in name only, directed by Kevin Cloud who also contributed to the design and artwork. John Romero had left id Studios so Keven and the writers/devs added a story driven plot based in a
fully Sci-Fi environment.

The devs included legends American McGee, John Carmack, Tim Willits, Brian Hook, George John Cash IV, Adrian Carmack, and Paul Steed, with music by Sonic Mayhem. id released the source code enabling MODs that quickly emerged.

Activision & Bethesda Softworks published Quake II. The game has been available on Windows, AmigaOS, Classic MacOS, Nintendo64, original Playstation, Linux, Xbox360, Zeebo, and Steam, with a 2019 nVidia RTX remaster.

In 1998 PC Gamer declared it the 3rd-best computer game ever released. "id's gun-happy masterpiece is the most sensational and subtle shooter ever, and one of the best games ... ever created".
