This puzzle really annoyed me, but only because you have to talk to the quest NPC twice to learn exactly what you have to do. I know older RPG's do that a lot, but this isn't an older RPG and there's no reason for him to not have mentioned that earlier. So yea, I cut out about 7 minutes worth of me spinning mirrors on the ceiling. Either way I did solve it and it seems that the Staff of Magnus must be located in the Labyrinthian, so it's time to report back to the Guild.
