Welcome to Game Play. A series, of sorts, where I check out various video games and share my experiences with you.

Today we're taking a look at The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Special Edition) (Xbox One X).

What can I say? It's Skyrim, and if you haven't checked out one of the many, many versions yet, you should definitely treat yourself this amazing experience. It's truly one of our generation's greatest games, and it continues to draw players, both old veterans and newcomers, into its massive world.

But I mainly wanted to check out the recording capabilities of the Xbox One X. I went ahead and used an external harddrive connected to the console and recorded the gameplay directly. In other words: no external capture card used.

And I think it looks pretty good! The console can record up to an hour of 1080p. I'm not sure if it's capped at 30fps but I think it depends on the game itself.

This makes recording gameplay much, much easier to do if you have neither a capture card or a capable PC. This was very simple to set up, and it saves the recording as a regular video file, making the whole thing easy to use and share. I haven't done any editing of the recording. This is the exact recording directly from the harddrive.
