Call of Duty veterans Seth ‘Scump’ Abner and Hector ‘H3CZ’ Rodriguez have filed a lawsuit against Activision, accusing the company of having an unlawful monopoly over the Call of Duty esports scene. The suit claims that Activision used its power to hinder growth, pointing to an alleged coercive $27.5 million entry fee for the Call of Duty League. The lawsuit also highlights restrictions on sponsorships, participation in other tournaments, and monetization of Call of Duty gameplay outside the league. The CDL team owners assert that Activision has enriched itself at the expense of players and teams. Activision, in response, denies the merit of the claims and plans to vigorously defend against the lawsuit.
