The Ethics Of Modding | GTA Online
A video that certainly had to be made. A summary of my thoughts on modding in GTA Online, specifically in the PC version of this game.
I strongly recommend watching the full video before bringing any suggestions to the table. It's not exactly a normal thing for me to say (heck, I don't even tell people to subscribe to me), but this video was made to counter those who are fond of misrepresenting others and twisting their words.
Sometimes, it can be really difficult to tell if someone is modding in the PC version of this game. All it takes is for someone to increase their weapon damage or health regeneration by something like 0.5%. Things like this are really difficult to detect in the heat of a PvP battle. Because of this, I label any and all PvP on the PC platform of this game void. By this, I mean that no amount of kills, deaths, etc. mean anything at all to me (even less so on the PC version of this game).
A more elaborate explanation of my point at 8:20 - I don't consider myself a skilled PvP player. I used to do Run and Gun PvP (RnG; not to be confused with Random Number Generation) pre-2015, give or take, around the time when they first added heists to the game. Since then, I've been drawn more towards the social aspect of this game as opposed to the PvP side of things. However, pre-2017 PvP was miles better since there was more legitimacy to it, aside from there being an actual skill gap involved. Anyone who says otherwise most likely hasn't played the game for long enough (2013 player here, by the way; been playing since the week this game dropped) or they're just not skilled at PvP in this game altogether. I don't recall ever sitting on buildings or calling in weaponized vehicles at every opportunity. Weaponized vehicles just lower the skill gap even further. Anyone could spam them if they really wanted to, but where's the merit in that?
**Also, the guy who attacks me at this point of the video was not a modder, as far as I could see. Modder or not, if they attack me in-game, I'll dish out double.
Overall, one's skill in a video game is not that deep of a topic, but I thought I'd make this video for those who are quick to cry "but you have a mod menu", etc.
**The background gameplay and general idea of this video was from those pre-BattlEye times of GTA Online. None of the modders in this video were griefing in-game at any point. This video was made up of miscellaneous clips that weren't made into their own videos; more of an informative video to get my thoughts out there, if you will.
Please refrain from sending hate to anyone in the video, even if they are acting foolish. If they want to project their negativity onto others, then it's their problem.
Please don't ask me for what mods I use. I will not be posting links or advising viewers about modding in GTA Online. Any requests for such information will not be replied to.
