I did take a full point off for the story with relations to secondary characters and with regards to Sebastian's associations with such characters in the story, but such characters did not impede the overall journey of the story and the gameplay. Even with lack of certain characters usage in the story the mechanics, fun factor, uneasy mood atmosphere, stealth, emotions, location shots, interactive buttons, easily understood tutorial for most things in game, resource management, difficult level, movement, perks and ability tree management, etc, transitions of spawn tile sets, and interesting boss fight types, in the end the journey was great. Now with new game plus unlocked the fun factor will be even better. I recommend this game. It does action/horror with psychological emphasis on mood using sound and imagery well enough to be enjoyed and explored.

The Evil Within 2 is a better game than its predecessor but it lacked certain things the original got right. It's not a perfect game. My score is 9.3 least to a 9.45 most. This is only my opinion. You might enjoy the game more and give it more points or less and give it less points. No matter how you slice it, this game is a 9. Anyone who says otherwise might be trying to sell you something or they don't care for or don't understand the horror genre craftsmanship to warrant a score less than a 9.

Important Note: If you are squeamish with regards to gore and violence and the brutality of certain images, this game is not for you. This game is absolutely not for children, nor the weak at heart. This game is nowhere near the most brutal or creepy horror game out there but it does have its moments worthy of horror awards.
