The fastest CPU on the market - Intel's Core i9 12900KS CPU!
298Intel's latest 12th Gen release, is a special edition top of the crop flagship processor, the core i9 12900KS.
The 12th gen processors bought with them a new hybrid architecture made up of two distinct types of cores, each optimised for different workloads. First you have the Performance cores, or P-cores, which are tuned for single and lightly-threaded code as is typically used in games and productivity applications. Then there are the Efficient cores, or E-cores, which are tuned for background tasks such as security sweeps and multi-threaded applications such as rendering. The really clever bit is that sitting between these two types of core and the OS is what Intel calls a Thread Director, which intelligently allocates threads to the appropriate core, the whole process happening automatically with no user interaction required.
The i9-12900KS is a Special Edition CPU boasting 8 PERFORMANCE CORES and 8 EFFICIENT CORES, 24 THREADS and the highest clock speeds of up to 5.5 GHz making it as intel says the world’s fastest desktop processor.
As you can see up against the next chip down the i9-12900K there's not a huge difference in specs but the slight increase in clock speeds is still very significant and is possible thanks to the 150W Thermal Design Power or 'TDP'
This processor is unlocked and overclockable and like all The 12th Generations CPU's this is compatible with most 600 series motherboards and supports PCIe Gen 4 & 5, and you can also take advantage of DDR5 memory and great features like Intel Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0.
