I was asked the other day to fix an issue a customer had when moving files between their hard drive and an external drive. They kept seeing ‘file too large for destination file system’ errors. Yesterday, while copying some large files to an external hard drive, I was promptly issued this message by Windows:
The file “myfile” is too large for the destination file system.
So I wondered to myself what could possibly cause this issue. My external hard drive had tons of free space, so why would I not be able to copy this file over?
