The Freeway Series; 500th Career Strikeouts; New Record for Perfect Innings pitched
The Angels remain home, but they're on the road around Interstate 5 to face their Interleague rivals of the Freeway Series, the Los Angeles Dodgers. Their latest chapter was at their 1st encounter World Series, where the Angels won their 3rd World title.
Regular- and post-season games between the two teams take place at either Angel Stadium of Anaheim or Dodger Stadium. The two stadiums are located approximately 30 miles (48 km) apart, and take approximately 40-50 minutes to travel via Metrolink or Amtrak from their closest stations, Los Angeles Union Station and the Anaheim Station.
At one point, both teams were owned by major media conglomerates: the Angels had been owned by the Walt Disney Company, and the Dodgers were owned by News Corporation (each company owned one of the MLB broadcast partners, with News Corporation changing its name to 21st Century Fox in 2013, and subsequently being purchased by the Walt Disney Company in 2019). Both teams have been sold in recent years.
The Freeway Series has revolved around Mike Trout and Clayton Kershaw. Now, a new chapter will be written between the Angels' new Ace and the veteran Shortstop Corey Seager, two former Rookie of the Year award winners
