I had no clue there was a prequel of sorts to Link's Awakening. The story is where the charm is in this game. You have two princes each trying to save a princess from the evil Croakians. Along the way you gain the power to turn into a frog and a snake. You have to use these abilities to solve some pretty simple platforming puzzles. Most puzzles have more than one way that they can be dealt with and that is always a nice touch. The combat is nothing to write home about. You bump into an enemy and start an automatic encounter. Whether you win or not is determined by your power, defense and speed. You collect random seeds scattered throughout the world and they increase your health, speed and power. You need to buy shields to increase defense. The game is extremely easy. The controls are about what you'd expect from a GameBoy game. There is quite a bit of menuing to be able to transform back and forth. The music does get a touch annoying after a while. There really are some awful boops and beeps. Wither way, it's short and sweet and it's nice to see where Link's Awakening came from. Enjy my blind playthrough.
