Crystal Moon is a concept album based on my idea of a non-existing Castlevania-like game that exists only in my head. You'll see the story progress through the uploads of these songs throughout the week. Check the announcement video for more details on the album!
About this song: This is the final area of the game before the final boss and also the lowest floor of Dracula's underground castle. The reason I did this album in the first place was because I thought it would be fun for a change if Dracula's castle appeared underground and sealed himself in an ice cavern so... This theme is very much that.
Dawn of Sorrow had a really cold feel to its setting and music so I felt inspired by it to write this song. The synth bells I used always sounded Winter-like to my ears so I tried to introduce them in this one.
I didn't want this song to be all heavy and imposing as this would also be the point in the game where you learn about Dracula's tragic loss and start understanding why he does what he does/feel bad for him. So it's a final area song but also a bit of an emotional one.
This is also where I started playing around with Sophia's music box motif. I referenced it in "The Spiral", the first song from the album. I used it in this one here as this is where you learn about her and finally... You might hear it again somewhere in the final boss theme as Dracula still holds her close to his heart.
