The £10 cam link: will this cheap USB HDMI capture card work on a smartphone?
TL:DW; Maybe, with some hard work.
THIS VIDEO IS NOT A TUTORIAL: it's an honest walkthrough of an experiment I tried in response to a comment on my first video on the £10 capture card, with most of the boring bits edited out (hopefully), but the important turning points left in.
It didn't seem right to do a "long story short", as there may be something that you pick up from this video that gives you the penny-drop moment to make it work perfectly for you. It's definitely not going to be a plug-and-play solution to anything, but e.g. if you need a remote video feed streamed over your WiFi (or even mobile data), you have a decent phone but with a terrible camera, you don't mind a small time delay, and you don't need the feed to be in sync with any other cameras, this could be a perfect cheap-and-cheerful solution, costing less than £20 (excluding the cost of the phone and camera, of course).
