46This book totally surprised me when it came out. It was one of the few times I had a comic shop in the vicinity I could check out and the starkness of its cover certainly got my attention.
Boy was I in for a treat! A blood drenched epic that just kept upping the stakes in nearly every chapter. Like an old school brawler video game that kept throwing crazier boss enemies at you while upping your moveset upon every level's completion.
That's what this book is. While there is an underlying story (and it's pretty cool), the action is certainly at the forefront. This book does not shy away from what pinnacle humans (and near supernatural level superhumans) can do to each other when they start fighting.
AND IT IS GLORIOUS. The later issues especially really get trippy with the visuals and were a precursor for what Moore would do with his Silver Surfer run.
