The Gunk is a third-person action-adventure video game with a story to share. The player controls Rani, a scavenger who has arrived on an extraterrestrial world with her accomplice Beck. The alien world has a variety of biomes, including canyons, jungles, and caves, but the terrains have been contaminated by the Gunk, a black slime-like parasite that is aggressively damaging the biosphere and its wildlife. Rani has a power glove that she can use to suck in the gunk and efficiently restore the previous surroundings. Players may also have to fight corrupted monsters. When the muck is gone, wildlife will thrive, and the player can scan the surroundings using Rani's scanner to discover more about the planet.
