Episode 1 version 0.0.15a/ c0.30_01c/classic
So, this is the first episode of History of minecraft, the show where I am going to tell you what happened in the game and community throughout the history of minecraft up to and past this day and build something appropriate in the background.
In this first episode I am about to tell you about version 0.0.15a or c0.30_01c as it is called on the launcher, but most of you probably know it as Minecraft Classic.
On May 17, 2009, 04:24:07 AM, Markus Persson AKA Notch released an alpha version of Minecraft which were 0.0.11a at the feedback forum on TIGSource.com and said it were inspired by the game Infiniminer, but where heading down a Dwarf Fortress path. It was surprising how Notch already had planned what the game would look like, but only managed to add most of the ideas right before the 1.0 release. The game quickly caught peoples interest and had 4 pages of comment at the first 24 hours where the first response were "Their animations pretty crazy" by Schtee 7 minutes and 57 seconds afther the release, referring to the Steves that ran randomly around the place as if they used drugs, DON'T DO DRUGS!!
The third reply, that came 15 minutes afther launch came from Increpare that said, "I hope you make something really good of this, dude; I think it has a lot of potential." And boy, he were right.
20 minutes after launch, Notch made an reply himself speaking of Survival mode and a few other gamemodes that never were added such as Team survival mode where there was multiple teams trying to survive the furthest.
49 minutes after launch Muku Posted the first user shared screenshot of the game, where he showed what he had built including castles, towers and a one block wide bridge.
2 and a half hours after launch jwaap posted the first sprite art made in game showing a pixel Mario.
There were a lot of interesting comments, but the most important one might be this one that came 26 hours after launch by Paul Eres that said "i think i'm the person that named this game (in irc, we kept throwing out names and you liked minecraft)." Notch confirms this by saying "It's a great name! It's perfectly light weight, descriptive, catchy, and just slightly ironic. Thank you. =)"
Notch later said in his blog that its name should be Minecraft: Order of the stone, but this later changed back to only Minecraft. The people that posted these comments probably had no idea of what history they just had created! You can find these posts at pcgamer.com, link in the description.
At this point however there weren't much in the game that were used to today, as an example there were no creepers or any other mobs than the Steves, there was not items as the game only included building and didn't have survival, but there were sponges however. For those who always wondered what sponges are for in minecraft and why you can't find them in survival, I am about to reveal the secret, they were used as an themporary fix water flooding until finite water was added, it has no uses today though.
After I discovered all this information, I decided that I should build a castle, as that was what most people built in the first moments of minecraft.
Thanks for watching, please like and subscribe if you want more of this series and tell me what you think about in the comments.
