The Hobbit gets official titles for its upcoming features, and -- dare we say --official release dates? Stick around.
Hey Hobbit fans, Amanda Janner here for Clevver Movies with a highly-anticipated update from Middle-earth. After a laundry list of delays, The Hobbit finally got the green light, and now the film has official release dates for its upcoming double feature. According to a press release from New Line Cinema, Warner Bros. and MGM, Part one of the saga will be called The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and part two is titled The Hobbit: There and Back again. Mark your calendars -- the first half hits theaters December 14, 2012 and the second debuts December 13, 2013.
With director Peter Jackson at the helm, both movies will be shot consecutively in digital 3D.
Filming will be done both in studio and on location around New Zealand. Look for familiar faces from "The Lord of the Rings" movies, including Cate Blanchett , Orlando Bloom, Elijah Wood and Sir Ian McKellen.
It's been a long journey on this one, so hit the comments section and let us know if your patience is wearing thin or if you think The Hobbit will be worth the wait. See you next time.
