The injuries that robbed Arsenal and England of a generational midfielder
Another day, another Arsenal what if. Jack Wilshere was destined to be a generational talent at the start of the 2010s. He was given a debut by Arsenal at a very young age and much fancied by his national team manager Fabio Capello ahead of the European Championships in 2012. Wilshere wouldn’t play in that tournament, nor would he start in the 2014 World Cup team for England. The reason? Wilshere was hampered by injury. Wilshere could have been a long-term successor for Cesc Fabregas but instead, he was shipped out on loan to Bournemouth and signed for West Ham on a free before becoming a free agent last year.
