Before the 11-week blackout of 1979, before the abandonment of colour in 1970, there was one bout of strike action, that was the first to challenge ITV on a national scale. In 1968, after becoming frustrating with flagging pay amongst a whole breadth of other issues, workers who were part of the ACTT union, decided to down tools and show the other side how much they could effect their operations.

You may have expected ITV to be knocked off the air entirely, as it was at the end of the 70s. However, somewhat by surprise, management decided to fight back. What resulted, was the Emergency National Service. Join me, as we delve into this fascinating part of ITV's history, and learn the ins and outs of the 1968 Strike!
