The Journey to Complete Every Pokédex Part 2 (Yellow Version)
Scripture Study
If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us. 1 John 1:8-10
Do you claim that you don't sin? Now I know this might sound crazy to some since this is a fundamental thing for salvation, to recognize you are a sinner. However, now days there is this idea goin around that is corrupting the doctrine of the Holy Scriptures. It says once you are saved by Jesus, you are made a new creation, which is true 2 Corinthians 5:17; however, the way people are using this is false and completely undermines grace and Jesus. They say you are made a new creation and as a new creation you don't sin anymore you are perfect right then and there and you can now live a sin free life. Which is absolutely false because for one the scripture above and two we are made a new creation but we are made into a new creation that loves the things of God. We love the laws, will, and things of God and we choose to forsake our old ways. That's doesn't mean all of a sudden our sinful flesh isn't sinful flesh anymore. We still have desires that are contrary to God's words that's why we must deny ourselves and pick our cross up daily Matthew 16:24. We must continue to choose to deny our flesh everyday because when we are saved we are justified before God saved from our sins. However, justified doesn't mean sanctified. Sanctification is a life long process that is meant to change us and mold us everyday more and more into the image of Christ. And even by the end of our lives we still won't be made perfect because there are sins we don't even know are sins sometimes. As we grow in our faith, we grow in our knowledge which teaches us and helps us understand sin and see sin for what it is. Showing us things everyday we need to change about ourselves. I can vouch this is true because in my walk things I did when I started I now know were sinful and not good to do. Like when I did home church I was jealous of how good my brother preached and based so much of how I preached on tryin to compete with my brother. However, now I see I was wrong, that mindset was sinful and totally against God and as such I have repented and asked for forgiveness. I ask for forgiveness daily with mistakes and even things I'm not sure is sin I take time to pray about because I want to be sure. We as Christians need to be broken over our sin and see how wretched we are because if we say we are without sin that undermines what Jesus did on the cross and not only that, if we say we are now without sin then all we needed was Jesus to make us right and now it's about us. If we sin now we lose our salvation which would mean our salvation is based on us. Not on Jesus which is a false gospel and blasphemy. Plus it says in scripture all sin and have fallen short of the glory of God Romans 3:23-24. Scripture also tells us there is none righteous, no not one Psalm 14:1-3, Psalm 53:1-3, and Romans 3:10-12. So examine yourself today. Do you think you're without sin? Do you believe you no longer can sin because you've been saved. If so you need to really examine yourself and examine scripture. Paul even talks about having a thorn in his side to keep him from becoming conceited 2 Corinthians 12:6-10. God allowed that thorn to keep Paul from becoming conceited and thinkin that he was this amazing person. He allowed this to show Paul that he was still not a holy person, he wasn't perfect and through that showed Paul that His grace was enough. For His power is made perfect though our weakness. It's our weakness that reminds us everyday that we need Christ so we never forget why we needed to be saved. Our weakness is our sin, our flesh, our carnal minds. Then also in Romans 7:15-20 Paul talks about doin things he doesn't want to do and the things he hates, he does. The things he wants to do he struggles to do. Why? Because we still have live in this body of sinful flesh that was born of the world and in the world. We are made a new creation, but it's not a creation that is perfect as if now we can live up to Christ. We could never live how Christ lived not be perfect like Christ. We have no idea how Holy God is we can't perceive or even image how perfect and Holy God is. I mean simple procrastination can be sin. You second guess if somethin is a sin and not bein sure but you do it anyway is sin. Guys there's so much we don't understand that's God reveals to us through His grace and love. Even our repentance isn't of us, but of God Acts 11:18 and 2 Timothy 2:25. So examine yourself today guys and ask yourself do you think you're without sin?
