The Last of Us 2 – Gameplay Walkthrough – 7 – Exploring Seattle (Last of Us Part 2)
The Last of Us Part 2 is not a “sequel” to the first game. It is literally a continuation so it’s a must that you played the first one. I really appreciate that the game developers did not spend time on providing the player much background and stuck to the nature of the game literally being a continuation of the first one.
The Last of Us Part 2 is a post-apocalyptic game about “infected” that roam the lands. It has deep character development and a long play time. During two portions of the game, I thought it was ending and that I was actually watching the ending…but nope! The game developers do a great job in making you think it’s over, but it keeps going. There are three acts to the game. You play as Ellie in the first act. You then play as Abby in the second act in a timeline that parallels Ellie’s. The two perspective then converge for the third act. Many reviewers have questioned the point of Abby and so did I when I played her act. I thought it was long drawn out, but as you keep playing the game does a fantastic job helping you understand who Abby is and why you do care about her. You’re then stuck with conflicting emotions on who you want to “win”. After finishing the game, I was left with several emotions which is a testament to the great story telling and the ability for Naughty Dog to, once again, captivate and engage you in a videogame. Simply knowing what the plot points are (through spoilers and leaks) is definitely not the same as actually playing the game and letting it take you through the story in the right manner.
