The Last of Us Fans Are Having Fun With This Episode 6 Editing Mistake
Of course, HBO is no stranger to such viral moments. Remember those Starbucks cups littering the background of Game of Thrones?

HBO is at it again, folks. In the past, the channel has accidentally left everything from crew members to coffee cups in final cuts of its shows. Now, history has repeated itself in HBO’s latest hit series, The Last of Us.

A fan spotted the mistake in Episode Six, when Joel and Ellie travel to Jackson, Wyoming. One scene displays an overhead view of the snowy terrain, and—if you look closely—you can spot two cameramen standing in the shot. After the episode aired, Neil Druckmann, who wrote and directed The Last of Us video game franchise, tweeted about a certain spoiler-y moment from the show trending on Twitter. Then, a clever fan responded to point out the editing error. “Brilliant episode,” they wrote alongside a screenshot of the scene. “Something you might want to fix and reupload though. You can see the film crew in this shot.”

Well, what can we say? Everyone makes mistakes! Even HBO’s editing suite. Druckmann did not respond to the fan, but others flocked to the comments to talk about the slip-up. One fan even photoshopped Starbucks cups over the crew, referencing the infamous Game of Thrones error, when a leftover cup was spotted in an episode. The fan tweeted, “So it’s clear, in case anyone can’t see it. I highlighted the areas where the crew is standing. With a little humor. Also I LOVE both the game and the series. I’m not simply pointing out mistakes. But I’m sure they’d want to fix it."

Editing hiccups aside, The Last of Us has proved itself to be an excellent show. Since its premiere on January 15, the series has amassed a strong fanbase and nearly five million weekly viewers. The show—which is based on Druckmann’s game of the same name—follows Joel and Ellie’s trek to safety, following the events of an apocalyptic fungal outbreak. With so many viewers tuning in each week to see how Joel and Ellie fare, it was only a matter of time until fans started nitpicking the series. Luckily, it’s nothing a quick edit can’t fix.
