***Thoughts updated***
Thinking about it again, at most this is the 8th best PS4 exclusive. Also the first one was better overall
-The story was alright but I would've appreciated a plotline centered around Ellie being the cure more than a revenge/forgiveness one (was there forgiveness?). Post Joel's death the game got really dry and I had to push through it till we got to the hospital. Rest of the game was solid but jumping back and forth in time was jarring.
-Now that I think about it the gameplay didn't really improve on anything from the first, maybe some quality of life changes here and there but that's it. Stealth is still hit or miss on normal mode, but the ambiance of certain areas were very tense and spooky which made me want to play more stealthy.
I hear things can get real tense on survivor mode.
-We really should've have been told Abby's motive before what she did to Joel. I feel like a lot of people didn't give her a chance nor care for her backstory because everyone saw her as just this random character that killed off the main character of the first game.
-I also understand how Ellie letting Abby go doesn't really go with the narrative of "what Joel would want" since in they're last conversation Joel tells Ellie that given a second chance, he would have killed the doctors again. But I still agree with Ellie's decision of letting Abby go because I think it took a tremendous amount a strength to do so and I never thought going after Abby would heal her pain in the first place. Rip to the hundreds of NAMED people she killed along the way tho.
-Overall I enjoyed the game. Beautiful, suspenseful, tense, spooky, and emotional. 7/10 wouldn't play again cuz I don't see the replay value.

I think calling it TLOU Part 2 implies that you're continuing the story of Ellie being immune. I think this game could've focus more on Ellie eventually finding out what Joel and how they proceed with their fractured relationship. Maybe Ellie catches wind of the fireflies reforming and runs away idk I'm rambling. Point is that the game boils down to a revenge plot that leaves me wondering did this sequel need to exist? Nothing was solved, the message of the game was that there are consequences for your actions i think? And that even after going on a rampage for revenge you cant stop yourself from going off the deep end i guess? Even though you killed a pregnant woman you can redeem your sense of humanity... Lol idk after further thought I don't think there's a point in this story being told since the goal of the first game was finding a vaccine and the development of Ellie and Joel's relationship.
This game has sparked my interest in thinking about the scope/purpose of games existing (aside from making money) more so I'll give it that lol.
