Chapter 5 - Pittsburgh

That night the four make their way out towards the guard post. After stealthily taking out two Hunters, Joel and Henry snuck towards the gate, avoiding the Hunters' searchlight as the snipers joyfully killed a Clicker while Ellie and Sam hung back.

To distract them, Joel finds a generator powering the searchlight and turns it off, prompting them to hide as the Hunters investigated the source. Eventually a fight broke out leading Joel and Henry to kill the Hunters.

Afterward, the adults open the gate, though not before the Humvee returns and spots them. Locking the gate to buy them time, the group tries to climb over a truck. Henry, Sam and Ellie made it on top but the ladder broke under Ellie's weight, leaving Joel stranded.

As the Humvee prepared to bash the gate open, Henry abandoned Joel out of fear, followed by a reluctant Sam. Ellie returns to Joel's side as they retreat into a bar to avoid the Humvee's gunfire. After taking out the Hunters inside, Joel and Ellie run to the bridge, with the Humvee in pursuit.

Blocked by the rubble and the large hole on the bridge, Joel attempts to make a last stand against the Humvee but Ellie bravely jumps into the river below, forcing Joel to follow. Joel reaches Ellie before she could drown, but the current slams the pair into a large rock and knocks them out.

Joel wakes up to find himself and Ellie alive on the riverbank, along with Sam and Henry. Henry is glad that Joel is okay though Joel is less than happy that the brothers left him and Ellie to die in the city.

Henry manages to defuse the situation that if the roles were reversed Joel would do the same, and that he saved them from drowning. Joel slowly acquiesces and the four went on their way. Along the beach they come across a ruined, weathered boat, as well as a note from Ish, one of the survivors after the outbreak.

The four find a large pipe, covered with a grill, located on the cliff side. Henry assures the group the sewer should go all the way through to the radio tower.
