The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening was first released in 1993 for the Game Boy and was one of the earliest games in the series. It was praised for its excellent graphics and engaging storyline. The game follows Link on a quest to return to his home of Hyrule after a shipwreck leaves him stranded on Koholint Island.
Players explored the island using items they collected along the way to progress the story and defeat enemies. In order to progress, players had to solve puzzles and progress through eight dungeons. Players eventually had to face the Wind Fish to get off the island and return home.
